Christmas Hope is Not Cancelled!
In response to the latest Covid 19 guidelines from the Governor’s office, and in conversation with area clergy leadership, we are making the difficult decision to cancel the next two outdoor Advent Sunday Bonfire Vespers Services that were scheduled for the evenings of December 13 and 20.
We will move those services to an online Zoom format for the rest of Advent. We will post the Zoom link on the regular Sunday worship bulletin. I hope everyone who the in-person Vespers so magical can be a part of the Zoom service as well!
It is likely that our Christmas Eve Family Service and Lessons and Carols will also have to be online, but we are trying to find a creative way of having an in-person, in-car worship experience. Stay tuned!
While the the in-person Advent Vespers services are cancelled, the Hope of Advent and Christmas is not. We will continue to create a space for the Christ-child to be born in our hearts and in our world this season. If you are interested in displaying that sentiment on a yard sign, please email me (see above.)
Peace,
Pastor Mitch
To stave off the cold and darkness of the tail-end of 2020, we have started a new Advent tradition— Sunday Night Advent Bonfire Vespers! (Well, not so much a bonfire as a small portable fire ring, but it will still offer light and heat against the cold and dark!) Vespers, a service of evening prayers, is a wonderful way to close a weekend, replenish our hearts for the week to come, and reflect with friends about the true reason for the season.
Covid and cold require that our gathering will be brief (20 minutes), masked, and socially distanced. Our souls require that they will also be prayerful, tuneful, and meditative. So bring your hearts and minds and voices!
Come join together for the Sundays in Advent as we welcome the Light of the World to meet us in the Darkness of Winter.
5:00 pm Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13, and 20.
Join us in the church parking lot: 119 Center Road, Essex Junction, Vermont 05452.
